Thai IP law is run by the Department of Intellectual Property under three main acts:
- The Trademark Act protects brand names, logos and other signs
- The Patent Act protects inventions, petty patents and designs
- The Copyright Act protects creative works such as text, images, music and software

Frequently asked questions
How long does trademark registration take in Thailand?
The filing date secures your priority at once. A first examination usually comes after 12 to 14 months, and full registration after about 18 to 20 months if there is no objection.
How long does a Thai trademark last?
Ten years from the filing date, renewable for further ten-year periods. The renewal is filed within the three months before expiry.
