Since this shift in legislation, the marijuana market has become highly competitive with a numerous business entering the scene. Various dispensaries have sprung up across Thai cities, with quite a few selling recreational marijuana products possessing THC content that exceeds the legal limit of 0.2%.
Not all stores possess the necessary permit, and even though regulations command that only adults aged 20 and older can use cannabis, compliance is inconsistent.
This inconsistency has spurred significant opposition from community members demanding more stringent laws. Recently in an interview with Bloomberg, the newly-appointed Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin voiced his plans to limit usage of cannabis strictly for medicinal purposes.
